Come explore the quieter and more authentic side of Kyoto where one can easily get lost walking through quaint neighborhoods, exploring local eateries and cafes and discovering less traveled temples, shrines and parks at every turn. 

Kitano Soho faces the Daimonji kanji character of the northern mountain. This famous character is one of 5 that are illuminated by bonfire during the obon fire festival in August. We are also surrounded by many temples and shrines most notably Kitano Tenmangu which features a beautiful plum garden. 

We offer a private gym for our guests. All the bedding and ceramic tableware are custom made in Kyoto. All soaps, shampoo and conditioner are made in Japan by plant based and eco conscious brand Leaf & Botanics.

The interior was constructed with local woods by local carpenters and craftsmen. Materials such as Hinoki, Kurumi walnut, Nara cedar and Tamo ash were thoughtfully chosen and fabricated with design by Kyoto based Moku Studio. The Japanese washi art were also custom made by a local artist using handmade bamboo washi paper and indigo dyes.
